To celebrate one of the most whimsical lots of the Phillips Geneva Watch Auction: XXIII, I created a motion design film bringing the legendary crustaceans of the "Quel Homard Est-Il?" timepiece to life. Inspired by the playful spirit of the watch itself, the lobsters take center stage in a fully choreographed aquatic dance routine — flipping, gliding, and performing with the grace and precision of seasoned underwater performers.
The animation pays homage to the extraordinary craftsmanship behind the piece: hand-engraved white gold lobsters coated in grand feu enamel, crafted by Les Ateliers Blandenier in Geneva, with dial design conceived by students Iris Grondein and Léa Maniscalco from HEAD – Haute École d'Art et de Design. A joyful collision of haute horlogerie, humor, and motion — all in the service of the Paint a Smile Foundation.
